Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps circuit, the house of the Belgian Grand Prix, is considered one of System One’s iconic stops. Whereas Monaco is F1’s most iconic road monitor, Spa is definitely F1’s most iconic racetrack. It is a purpose-built 4.3-mile loop that includes a number of the extra harmful and awe-inspiring racing sectors on Earth. Spa is to F1 what Laguna Seca is to IndyCar or Daytona is to NASCAR.
This week, after months of hypothesis, F1 president Stefano Domenicali introduced that Spa would stay on the F1 calendar by the 2027 season. The information was delivered in celebratory phrases.
“The Belgian Grand Prix was one of many races that made up our maiden championship in 1950, in order we kick off our 75th anniversary 12 months, it’s becoming that we are able to share the information of this vital extension,” Domenicali said, per The Guardian.
Hidden behind Domenicali’s lavish reward was a darker fact: that from 2027 onward, Spa would drop off the F1 calendar each different 12 months.
